Marble
Statuario marble
Statuario is a white calcite marble quarried in Carrara, prized for its bright white ground and bold, sparse grey veining. It is chosen where a strong visual contrast is wanted without heavy colour.

Character and behaviour
The background is a cooler, brighter white than Carrara marble, with veins that run thick and graphic rather than fine and diffuse. Polished slabs have a glassy surface that amplifies light. Being calcite, it reacts to acids and scratches more readily than stone or engineered alternatives.

Best for
- Bathroom feature walls
- Vanity tops with careful sealing
- Shower niches and surrounds
- Fireplace surrounds
Avoid for
- Kitchen worktops with heavy daily use
- Wet floors without anti-slip finish
- Households that prefer low maintenance
Care and maintenance
Seal on installation and reseal annually. Wipe spills promptly — citrus, wine, and vinegar etch the surface. Use pH-neutral cleaners only.
